FRESH, LOCAL, SUSTAINABLE
The MetroCrops Story
MetroCrops, LLC is an urban, indoor, vertical farm. Through a 4-year USDA research grant MetroCrops became one of the first indoor farms in New England to grow high quality salad greens.
MetroCrops’ first farm was located in a former manufacturing facility on River Street in Bridgeport, CT. In 2020 MetroCrops moved to a new, expanded facility on Mountain Grove Street, also in Bridgeport. MetroCrops grows and harvests salad greens 365 days a year. All our greens are grown from certified organic seeds - never GMO. They are hand-picked, hand rinsed, and hand packaged.
We do not use pesticides or herbicides – there are no pests or weed sources in our indoor grow room. Our plants are high in beneficial antioxidants and other nutrients (based on test results performed in conjunction with the USDA).
MetroCrops participates in the spring / summer / fall.

Metrocrops grow lights
Because MetroCrops grows indoors under LED lighting, our microgreens are extra vibrant in color and rich in taste 12 months of the year. Even during the months when the Connecticut sunshine is too weak to support a high quality of plant growth in greenhouses, our indoor grown plants are still at their consistent best.
Growing hydroponically
Growing hydroponically in water means that MetroCrops microgreens are totally grit and dirt free. The food grade burlap that our microgreens are grown on is never reused. This insures plant safety. Burlap is one of the most natural growing mediums known. We dispose of our burlap in an environmentally friendly manner.
No GMO.
We never use GMO seeds. And, because our microgreens are grown in a sealed, climate controlled grow room, there is no need for pesticides or herbicides.
